AI transparency
Last updated: 18 October 2026
This page describes how we use artificial intelligence: the systems we use, what they do, how you know you are talking to a virtual assistant and what you can ask for at any time. It supplements the disclosure required by Article 50 of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 on artificial intelligence, which is made in the conversation itself, from the first sentence.
The artificial intelligence systems we use
Mara, the virtual assistant of this website, available in three places: the voice demo on the page, the chat in the corner of the page and the demo phone number. For Mara we are both the provider and the deployer, within the meaning of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689.
The virtual assistants we build for our clients. For these we are the provider, and the client is the deployer, using them on behalf of its own company. Each client sets the rules of its assistant (hours, what it says, when it hands the conversation over to a person), and we implement them.
What the virtual assistant does
- It answers questions, by voice or in writing.
- It takes your contact details, only if you choose to leave them.
- On the phone, it can transfer you to a member of the team (see below).
- It produces a transcript and a summary of the conversation. Our clients' assistants can also book appointments, under each client's rules.
What it is built on
The assistant has three components: speech recognition, which turns voice into text; a language model, which interprets the question and formulates the answer; speech synthesis, which generates the assistant's voice. The voice is generated artificially and does not belong to a person. For Mara: the assistant's server is in Germany; speech recognition and synthesis are provided through a dedicated EU endpoint of a US provider, under standard contractual clauses; the language model runs in the EU data zone; saved conversations are stored in a database in Frankfurt.
For details on the provider categories, the place of processing and the applicable safeguards, see Sub-processors.
How you know you are talking to a virtual assistant
By voice, Mara introduces herself in the first sentence: "the virtual assistant at Generativa, powered by artificial intelligence. This conversation is recorded."
In the chat, the window header always reads "Generativa virtual assistant, powered by artificial intelligence", and Mara's first message contains the same disclosure, together with the statement that the conversation is recorded.
On the website, the same disclosure appears under the voice demo, before you turn on the microphone.
By "recorded" we mean that we keep the written transcript of the conversation. Since 13 October 2026 we no longer keep the audio.
For our clients' assistants, our standard is the same: the assistant states in its first sentence that it is a virtual assistant powered by artificial intelligence.
Limits of the virtual assistant
The assistant makes no decisions with a legal effect on you and gives you no score. It is not designed to give medical, legal or financial advice. Like any system of this kind, it can make mistakes; check important information with a member of the team.
Health data in the demo
Please do not share details about your health in the demo. If you did, write to us and we will delete the conversation. Tell us the approximate date and time, so that we can identify it.
Your right to talk to a person
On the phone, if you ask to talk to a person, Mara transfers you to a member of the team, Monday to Friday, between 09:00 and 18:00, Romanian time. The transfer is attempted once per call. Outside these hours, or in the chat, Mara takes your details so that the team can contact you.
For our clients' assistants, the transfer to a person follows each client's rules.
Marking of generated content
The assistant's voice is generated in real time, during the call. At present there is no technical method for live generated audio to carry a machine-readable mark. For this reason, the disclosure is made in words: in the greeting and in the labels.
Retention period
The transcript and summary of a conversation with Mara are cleared after 12 months. The phone number you called from is cleared after 12 months. The contact details you left with her are deleted after 24 months. For each call we keep a technical log, without the content of the conversation (the time, the duration, how the call ended and any errors), with the phone number pseudonymised. The log is deleted after 12 months.
For our clients' assistants, the retention periods are those in the data processing agreement signed with each client.
